Appellate Attorneys for NFL Have Won Their Appeal - Ezekiel Elliott Suspension Reinstated
Posted on 13 October, 2017 at 11:15 |
Appellate attorneys for the NFL have succeeded in reinstating the six game suspension of Ezekiel Elliott. According to the Washington Post, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the lower federal court's preliminary injunction prohibiting the football league from enforcing Elliott's suspension. The appellate attorneys for the NFL argued that the lower federal court did not have jurisdiction to hear the case "because the players’ union filed its case on Elliott’s behalf before his appeal was completed." The appellate court agreed and in a written statement from the football league, the "Court also directed the district court to dismiss the union’s lawsuit which was filed on Elliott’s behalf."
According to the article, Elliott's suspension is to begin immediately and Elliott "will miss games against the 49ers, Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles and Chargers." He will not be eligible to play again until November 30th, when the Cowboys play the Redskins.
