The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is the highest appellate court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Some decisions rendered on civil appeals that are of particular interest are provided herein.

Civil Appeal Decisions - May 2015

Vale v. Valchuis (SJC 11744) (May 22, 2015) - SUMMARY: The SJC, upon direct appellate review, decided "whether the valuation of stock, pursuant to a stock transfer restriction, is a proper subject for arbitration and, if so, whether and when a selling shareholder may terminate the arbitration process." The SJC affirmed the denial of the motion to compel arbitration, but on different grounds than those set forth by the trial judge.
